  The next in my list of single lessons I am releasing is the “Garden Roses” demonstration. This is a pretty easy Rose Demo painting…a good one to learn roses in an easy, loose painterly way.

   Tip:   When painting roses and all flowers for that matter, it is much easier to start with the outside of the petals. Make the first brush stroke pulling the paint toward the inside of the flower and then go to the inside of the petal and drag the next brush stroke into and over the previous outside petal stroke. This helps with getting the edge relationships right. Another tip is to use as large a brush as you can… flowers never look good with a bunch of small little brush strokes with chunky paint.
